As the name would indicate, a turbocharged engine was available for the Turbo trim level. A five-speed manual transmission was standard issue, with a three-speed automatic offered as an option starting in 1986.

The Sprint was initially offered as a three-door hatchback, a five-door variant was added to the roster in 1986. All models were front-wheel drive and ride on standard steel wheels.
